Happy Summertime!

Welcome to the first issue of our newsletter. In each issue, we hope you'll find some useful tips! We'll also tell you about some of our clients and collaborators, and fill you in on the latest news from Wildwood Interactive. If you'd rather not receive this, please don't hesitate to Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom.

Our clients continue to strive for excellence!

Our favorite thing about Wildwood is our clients. We hope to pass on great news and exciting changes for our clients through our newsletter.

Impact Austin is a finalist for the Chamber of Commerce Greater Award. CJ and Risa are the culprits behind the nomination and we cross our fingers that Impact Austin takes home the big award! (Interested in a seat at one of our tables? Call us at 732.9916 and ask for Risa. She'll give you more information. The dinner is August 30th, and we're hoping to have a big group there.)

Legerity, a provider of VoIP, received recognition in the Austin American-Statesman for their commitment to Voice-over-Internet-Protocol solutions for optical networks.

Are you our client? Did your company do something exciting this month? Did you get some great press? Do you have an event you'd like us to promote? We sure hope you'll send it to us, because we'd love to feature it on our newsletter!

 Master of your Domain

It's a good idea to make sure you’re listed as the registrant of your domain with your chosen domain registrar.

Domain registrars are the companies that keep track of who owns which domain and where to direct Internet traffic for each domain registered with them. Examples of domain registrar are networksolutions.com, godaddy.com, register.com and many others.

Registrars have immense clout in determining who owns what. Never let a web developer or hosting company list themselves as the administrative contact or registrant of your domain. If they’re listed as the registrant, they’re the legal owner of the domain.

Proving that you should rightfully own the domain and not the person listed as the registrant can be extremely difficult.

If you suspect that you’re not listed as the registrant of your domain, you can find out by going to http://www.whois.com. Type in the part of your domain between the dots. For our domain, we’d type in just wildwoodinteractive. Then click on the Whois Lookup at the bottom of the returned screen.

If you don’t see your name, or the name of someone in your company as the registrant, you may not have control of your domain.

 Wildwood News

In June CJ hired an assistant, Risa Robertson, to help with scheduling, networking and overall organizational communication. Donna Cheshire is still the office manager and continues to deliver flawless accounting services and overall office facilitation.

Wildwood Interactive waves a sad goodbye to one of our web developers, John Mordhorst. John is moving to Manhattan to take a consulting position. He is an outstanding programmer and a great friend to us all. He will be sorely missed.

We are growing! This month we will be hiring two new developers. If you know a great programmer who wants to join a company like ours, please look at our job description here
